Pocket Squares

When I think of men’s fashion, two accessories come to mind that have recently fallen out of everyday rotation. The first, tie clips, are almost surprisingly controversial among both men and women. Most men tend to agree with me they look great when used appropriately and most often when paired with a casual suit. Some women love them, but others seem to vilify the addition to the point where I’ve heard it be described as a “deal-breaker,” which is never good.
The second, however, seems to be unanimously missed by both sexes: the pocket square.
The Varsity Jacket and/or Sweater

As the weather cools off and we plunge into the dead of winter in St. Andrews, finding a jacket that will stand out is going to become increasingly difficult; enter: the varsity jacket and/or sweater.
The Double Breasted Blazer

As the Dunhill cup continues to dominate the news around town, something else has been keeping our attention: The double breasted blazer. There are few better ways to subtly state: “yeah I’m the man…and what?” than a truly fitted blazer. The double breasted is king among them.
Cartier Tank
Some have called it the perfect watch. Others don’t know what they’re talking about. This is the perfect watch. In a day and age when every douche and his cousin walk around with flava-flave sized clocks in every color of the rainbow emblazoned with 9,000 Swarovski crystals, a classic piece like this stands out like Chuck Bass at a Jersey Shore rave. This watch defines the phrase “less is more.”
Black Silk Knit

Some of the most iconic images in recent history include solid black ties. From the Blues Brothers to Pulp Fiction (royal with cheese!) to Kanye West (above, with black silk knit tie), the black suit, white shirt, black tie situation stands alone amongst a world normallu dominated by unfortunate shirt-tie combinations.
Unfortunately, in real life, the black on white on black can also make you look like you’re going to a funeral service. Or waiting tables. A great way to spice up the classic look is by changing out the generic cotton, polyester or wool tie for something a little more exciting: silk knit. This tie will literally go with everything. It looks just as at home at a casual no jacket sunday brunch to a wedding (assuming you’re not IN the wedding).
