Hopefully you guys like this song. Mustard Pimp has been around for a while but they really hit home with a remix they did for MTV’s Jersey Shore s4 promos. Their album drops next month on Steve Aoki’s label and I already can’t wait.

Standard Skrillex really. Glad to see he’s made a connection with the french Ed Banger crew. That means good things for both.

Go Hard – Dream

Apparently this guy has been hiding in the shadows behind Skream, Benga, Hatcha etc. for a few years now but its really difficult to ignore him after this release. This could be the “When I look at You” of this year. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!

Despite it being Paris fashion week, Dont Walk approaching rapidly and clothes playing on my mind all I can think about is music. So, I present to you Youandewan. Beautiful, well thought out, atmospheric music – relieving work/hangover/sartorial anxiety.

Based in Leeds this guy is getting some good airtime. You know when Midland (who I’m just a bit in love with) gets excited it must be something pretty special – I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more from him. I urge you all to check out his soundcloud properly, there are some stunning tracks really worth a listen.

First trip to the library of this term and I have already succeeded in making the girl next to me leave after 20mins. Success.

Anyway, thought I’d share a little discovery. Digital Farm Animals are still pretty unknown, but I’ve been listening to them a lot in my post-FS-weekend daze – can’t get enough. They’re producing a real variety of tunes, covering techno-house, 2-step even some very acceptable dubstep.

Just heard The Glitch Mob for the first time today. It is not a be all end all musical situation,however, it is definitely a good party track, and an enjoyable video! check it out!

This guy could not be getting more press at the moment (unless he were Kanye West). With two hit EPs out already and an album just on the horizon, James Blake is set to take the indie world by storm. Having been listening to his music on repeat for the past few days, I have to question how broad an audience a man with such a unique and individual sound can actually reach. I could be taking a cynics view to the whole idea of the music industry, but no one can disagree that the more generic a song sounds, the more popular it becomes: Glee takes the soul out of every song they do and that show is HUGE!

I digress.

James Blake has an incredibly unique and refreshing take on most everything he touches (and his voice isn’t too bad either). Check out his cover of Feist’s “There’s a Limit to Your Love.” If you really want the full effect, make sure you’re listening on speakers with good bass. You dont want to miss it.

Blake illustrates that music doesn’t have to sound canned and generic. Listening to his music late at night feels like dumping a cold bucket of love water over your head after having been living in a musical desert of pop music for the past 20 years. The Charity Opening ball talk that I’ve heard since the event has been a shmorgishborg of both positive and negative reviews. Two things people have been saying most: 1: John the Evangelist and Bring Back The Planes rocked it. 2. Mr Hudson was kind of a let down. I think they have a point. People came to see Mr. Hudson and either left before he came on or only saw him for half an hour maximum. What ended up happening is The Planes played for an hour, John played for two then Mr. Hudson went on for what was supposed to be an hour but turned into roughly half an hour once he hit the stage. Then he just had his DJ finish off the night. I can’t say I was upset by the decision as I was in love with the music his DJ choose the play – mostly jungle and dubstep. I can’t, unfortunately, say that the rest of the crowd was enjoying it as much as I was. They came to see Mr. Hudson and left after a half an hour of london’s finest. This wasn’t the KK’s fault and I don’t think there was anything they could have done that would have changed the outcome except not book him in the first place. Yet frankly, I think they made a good choice in Mr. Hudson – top 40. artist signed to Kanye’s record label and for a decent price. You would have to be crazy not to book him. After the night ended, I had a short chat Hudson. It went something like this:

Me to Mr. Hudson’s DJ: “Dude great set! It was sick!”
Hudson’s DJ: “Hey thanks a lot man!”
Mr. Hudson: “What about me?”

Disappointing, Mr. Hudson, Disappointing.
