Tyler The Creator’s Controversial Song Gets an Even More Controversial Video

Everyone’s favorite Bruno-Mars-hating 19 year old has somehow managed to piss off everyone even more with his new music video for the song “Bitch Suck Dick.” I don’t really see what the big deal is, he’s made a joke video for a joke song and suddenly everyone’s made at him for “playing into black stereotypes.” I mean had these people not heard the song before watching this video? Tell us what you think in the comments.

Dance hall god Adijah Palmer aka VYBZ Cartel, known for his many collaborations including Major Lazer’s Pon de Floor, has been charged with the murder of a club promoter in Kingston, Jamaica.

You’ve probably heard VYBZ Cartel’s signature voice on a number of tracks including Major Lazer’s Pon De Floor.

Here’s the police statement:

“The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with other men, conspired to murder Barrington Burton o/c ‘Bossie’, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park,”

Lets hope everything works out!

If you want to read the whole story, head over to The Guardian.

The crowd loved it.

In the words of SOFI, though, “What is going on?!”

Is the new “dj” thing to throw down in the britches? Cause I’m not sure I’m cool with that.

The SaintAndre.ws Playlist: Week 1

Welcome to week 1. Doesn’t matter what year you’re in, its always kind of bittersweet. It’s exciting to get back into the swing of things but it also kind of sucks because fresher’s week is over. We’ve compiled a list of songs that hopefully will help you through “readings” or “lab work” or whatever excuse you have to not go out. Enjoy. I’m too hungover to type too much right now if I’m honest, but this song is good and its called hangover, which is what I’m feeling right now.

In other news: the collective town hangover is palpable. I hope this helps.
Also, drink more bloody marrys. They’ll help.

Enough Thunder

Lets be real here, James Blake’s first album could probably have been about 1/4 as long if he had taken out all the deep silence and Bon Iver is just some rich kid living in his dad’s cabin. This duo buzzband collab is fucking sweet though. I’m <3ing the Phil Collins-y drum breaks scattered through it.

Maybe more buzzbands should collab this way…

Postal Service vs. Sufjan Stevens?

Holy Fuck! vs. Mumford and Sons?

Neon Indian vs. Best Coast?

Jamie xx vs. Cat Power?

Just kidding that last combo already happened. They called it The XX.

Dubstep Artist releases pedophilic video

Buzzboi Skrillex has released a “you dont get it like I do” video of some kid beating the crap out of a pedophile with magic as a new music video. Is this supposed to be some doorway into the inner mind of the prince of dubstep or just some cheap ploy to get written up on the blogosphere? (ok wait…)

What is this video actually about? I get what its supposed to be about but why, Skrillex, why? Is it taboo to call this video bad because a pedophile is the main antagonist?

Perhaps some context would help:

Off camera: young ozzy attempts to decapitate big bear with his mouth.

“what is this some sort of shit metafor? I don’t get it. Then again, I’m six”

Ok seriously this shit makes no fucking sense.

DNCCLB buzzgenre Moombahton has just had an epic release on T&A records (know for Dave Nada who founded the genre) by 3 supercute jamaican bb’s known as TNT.  Here’s what their publicist wrote:

“TNT is a supergroup made up of Tifa, Natalie Storm and Timberlee, three hot gyals from Jamaica who have taken the dancehall world by storm.”

We wish more clubs played music like this.

The Green Montreal

By way of Olive, I’ve come to know Jacques Green recently. He is a very talented producer from Montreal who is starting to get a lot of airplay. As such, he was on Rinse.fm a couple of weeks ago and his performance is definitely worth checking out. His mixing isn’t perfect, but his song selection is exceptional. Give it a listen and leave a comment if you like it.

The Birth of a Civilization

They’re back! After what’s felt like a lifetime, Justice returns with the first single from their yet-unnamed follow up to their 2007 debut album, †. Go pick it up immediately! Its a wonderful mishmash of Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon style psychadelia and the new hipster disco craze old school funk.
