Agent Provocateur’s New Advert is F&cking Creepy

Agent Provocateur Soiree 2011 from Agent Provocateur on Vimeo.

I seriously have no idea what I’ve just witnessed. Its either the most rock and roll lingerie film ever or Justin Anderson should be committed. Or both. I don’t quite know what to make of it just yet. Need some opinions.

Agent’s 2011-2012 Soiree collection was released last monday. It seems like a pretty good looking line but I’m not quite sure the video will help sell any clothing (if you can call what they’re selling clothing).

Black Silk Knit

Some of the most iconic images in recent history include solid black ties. From the Blues Brothers to Pulp Fiction (royal with cheese!) to Kanye West (above, with black silk knit tie), the black suit, white shirt, black tie situation stands alone amongst a world normallu dominated by unfortunate shirt-tie combinations.

Unfortunately, in real life, the black on white on black can also make you look like you’re going to a funeral service. Or waiting tables. A great way to spice up the classic look is by changing out the generic cotton, polyester or wool tie for something a little more exciting: silk knit. This tie will literally go with everything. It looks just as at home at a casual no jacket sunday brunch to a wedding (assuming you’re not IN the wedding).

Exams are dead, long live exams!

you are what you wear

Just for a moment, think about what you would be if you were : a) what you ate and b) what you wore. I’m assuming that both answers will (in most cases) be grim. As someone with fashion and sustainability constantly on my mind, i think it is truly important to transfer one’s core values into their fashion and lifestyle. Above are some delightful designs via BOA’s hand-made, organic ‘Pamuk’ collection. This Istanbul-based brand is gaining global appeal (thus it is also relevant to all of us at st andrews), and embraces eclectic worldly styles as well as sustainability! Instead of describing them more, i will let you all look them up for yourselves on the internets. Still not convinced? I’m going to go off on a little tangent and leave you with some food for thought… Read more ►

I know this is a serious throwback, however i have recently come across many people who have yet to encounter the guilty pleasures derived from Mobb Deep’s Bob Marley remixes, and who, upon discovery were overjoyed (maybe that was an overstatement)…anyways, If you know them, this post is irrelevant. If you dont, i have attached a song that will hopefully spice Read more ►

Dont want to grow up

Spring (or British summer) is here at last! Of all of the most visible spring trends, so far my favorite is the revival of the vintage peter pan collar. On a blouse, tee shirt, or dress, this lovely soft edge gives your outfit a Read more ►

The Fall

First, The Fall is one of the best films I have ever seen. Second, it is definitely the most under-hyped film of the century. If you watch it, you will understand that there is no way for me to even begin to describe it, however I think it can be best described as ‘an aesthetic wet dream’. Kind of. In any event, please watch it! The Fall is for lovers of photography, aesthetically pleasing cinematography, house of flying daggers, inception, Read more ►

Viv on Kate…

Oh dear, looks like Dame Vivienne Westwood has been ruffling some more feathers this week… She is quoted as saying that “I would have loved to have dressed Kate Middleton but I have to wait until she kind of catches up a bit somewhere with style.” Read more ►
