Way to be, Siri

That new iPhone feature that everyone is talking about, the personal assistant one, apparently doesn’t take shit from anybody. In fact, she’s got enough attitude and sass to justify her own tumblr: Shit that Siri Says.

Its actually pretty fantastic. Go take a look, just don’t ask her to open the pod bay doors.

For Those Going Through BBM Withdrawal

Don’t worry. Everything is going to be ok. Its just that RIM’s (company that owns Blackberry) main core switch like…broke? And then like…the backup switch broke too. Don’t worry though cause they say it will be back up at some point. Probably not soon though. Anyway, I just wanted to take this time to let you know that everything is going to be alright. That guy and/or girl you’ve been BBMing doesn’t all-of-a-sudden hate you and is no longer interested, its just that their phone broke. But seriously this time; this isn’t, like, one of those excuses. There’s a whole world out there waiting to be explored and, believe it or not, you can do that without a constant tether to all the friends you aren’t with at that exact moment. Go forth.

NOTE: THe following video isn’t a plug for levis (in fact, I think its pretty lame) but its oddly appropriate so I included it anyway.

VYBZ Cartel Charged with Murder

Dance hall god Adijah Palmer aka VYBZ Cartel, known for his many collaborations including Major Lazer’s Pon de Floor, has been charged with the murder of a club promoter in Kingston, Jamaica.

You’ve probably heard VYBZ Cartel’s signature voice on a number of tracks including Major Lazer’s Pon De Floor.

Here’s the police statement:

“The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with other men, conspired to murder Barrington Burton o/c ‘Bossie’, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park,”

Lets hope everything works out!

Return of SebastiAn

Just a quick one to share SebsatiAn’s triumphant return for Ed Banger records. Honestly couldn’t get enough of the french label this time last year (was Breakbot, Breakbot, Breakbot in my flat) and now it seems Busy P’s boyo has got right back on it.

This track goes in a slightly different direction from what I’ve come to expect of SebastiAn (always seem to think of ‘Motor’ or ‘H.A.L’ –  real headaches ‘bangers’) but that’s no bad thing. Am SO enjoying  playing this loud in the car, windows open, sun out…

Happy spring holidays all.

Viv on Kate…

Oh dear, looks like Dame Vivienne Westwood has been ruffling some more feathers this week… She is quoted as saying that “I would have loved to have dressed Kate Middleton but I have to wait until she kind of catches up a bit somewhere with style.” Read more ►

We have just been told from a source who, in the past has been known for reliable information, but we are unsure because of how big this is.

Here we go:
Calvin Harris might be coming to St. Andrews in November. Since he is playing in Dundee around November 3rd, I’d say that our best guess is that he will be arriving some time around that date. Beyond that, I really have no idea. We literally just got sent that photo…

From what I’ve heard around town, its gonne be huge. Keep checking back for updates.

And here for all you little kiddies, is a video of how awesome Calvin Harris actually is

Last Night’s Highlights

If you went out last night you were probably (at least for a little while) at the Lumsden Club Cool Runnings party at Ma Belles. The place was packed with people, and although they recommended Rasta attire, only very few people were wearing that sort of thing. The bar was clogged, the music was a little bit quiet, and very few people were dancing, but the atmosphere was decidedly pumped. People were waiting in clumps trying to slip past the bouncers when the bar was filled to capacity (which it did, pretty early on). If the objective of the Lumsden Club was to have an event where people could go and know all of their friends would be there, they did a great job. And besides, who’s going to argue when the stamp to get in is only 5 pounds?

People who didn’t go to Cool Runnings were waiting outside the Lizard. Once you got in it was full, sweaty, and all for contributing to your really messy night. Also the floor lights up, in case you hadn’t picked up on that. 40 was full of people waiting to go down to Ma Belles, and there was a party on Bell Street that had rented speakers from RaveSoc early on in the day, and they attracted a lot of people at the end of the night. Successful Boozeday Tuesday. See you next week.
