Behind the scenes at the recent DW photo shoot

By now you have all probably seen the newest DONT WALK twenty-ten photo shoot, but heres a video DW had done on the day. The shoot, photographed by Kayhan, is inspired by outer space and seems to focus on the cool pairing of silver and white. Not all the shots are ‘out of this world’, but the ones that are really amazing make up for it. For a student run fashion show it is pretty awesome what these guys are able to pull off. The photos are included below just incase you haven’t had a chance to check out their website!

Check out this small shoe collection from the Horse! It is simple, but the shoes styles are on point and perfect for the spring. Also the gallery they have is pretty neat.

I love these shoes Nicholas Kirkwood designed for Rodarte’s AW 10-11 line. Well I love almost everything about these shoes, except for the heals – they just remind me of melting goop. But yea, besides that, the mix-matched colors and textures are exquisite! Check out some of Nicholas Kirkwoods older designs in this TrendLand post, he is officially one of my top ten favorite shoe designers!

Bloggers Continue to Take Over the Fashion World

Earlier this year Colin McDowell wrote an article titled Fashion Blogging: The Rape of the Innocents, about the Fashion Industry doing to these young fashion enthusiasts what the Movie Industry did to young stars of the 30’s. Personally I feel a little weird critiquing young fashion bloggers, because, well that is exactly what I am doing right now, but the article has some really interesting and good points about the whole era of the ‘fashion blogger’. I mean WWD just announced that bloggers will be able to nominate and vote in this year’s CFDA Fashion Awards, talk about praise and power. Well I guess the question here is, will fashion bloggers become just a phase – left in the dust by the rest of the fashion world, or will they make their mark permanent? Only time will tell (sorry I couldn’t resist the cheesy last line)!

Gucci Group Carrying on the Alexander McQueen Brand

Last week the Gucci Group announced they will keep the Alexander McQueen label going. Although some have argued that the McQueen’s show at AW Paris Fashion Week should be a memorial service commemorating the years of innovation McQueen gave the fashion world, Gucci has decided they will show his intended AW10 collection. I don’t know about that decision though, it all seems a little to rushed.

Blast from the Past

Scrolling through FFFFOUND! yesterday and I came across this old Annie Leibovitz photo-shoot for Vogue 2003. I absolutely love this shoot! I mean of course the wardrobe that model Natalia Vodianova (Alice) shows off is wonderful, but what I enjoy most is how each photo also incorporates the designer(s) who created piece Alice is wearing. Plus, whose excited for the upcoming release of Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton, 2010, UK)  this March?? If you wanna read the story behind it, check out Vogue online!

The $1,960 Trash Bag

Well Louis Vuitton, you’ve done it again! Marc Jacobs has been getting more and more crazy ever since he was brought on as Creative Director of LV, but I have to say this trash-bag look-a-like, dubed the ‘Raindrop Purse’, truly takes the cake. Marc Jacobs’ love of the beauty in what might be perceived as ‘ugly’ or ‘off’ is one of the reasons he has been such a success; not to mention the fact he is at heart an artist, not just a designer. His ability to push the boundaries and still make pieces many women (and men) would die to own is unprecedented. Personally, I dunno if its at the top of my list, but I’m in love with the artistic element as well as the concept!

As the military-school-style trend has swelled in popularity this year, designers have been forced to get creative and make their line stand out, and Bapties Viry did exactly that. Expanding upon many of their idea’s from the FW09 line, Bapties Viry’s SS10 line puts an emphasis on bold accessories creating personal style.
